Normally S7-200 family has a low cost solution for PTO "Pulse Train Outupt" and you can use it for stepping motor application using CPU224 for example.CPU 224 have its integrated both high speed inputs and outputs. The high speed outputs (2 Outputs) [Q0.0 & Q0.1] are up to 20 kHz and can be used as PWM or PTO and I have used these outputs in as a pulse train outputs to drive a stepping motor in labelling machines.CPU 313C has only high speen inputs and you can configure them as HSC "high speed counter" to connect them to encoders.Any way, I think the best selection is to use S7-200 with CPU 224.Attachment in section 6, Pulse Train Instruction,how to use PTO and how to program itWith best regards,Ayman Elotaify
