Dear All, What is the mjor defference between SIMOCOD PRO V/C and simple DOL/STAR DELTA protection of motor? or say what is the adavntage of SIMOCODE? |

Hi, Let me understand your question first... Do you want to know:- 1) What is difference between Simocode pro C and V? Well to answer this pls refer the litreture attached. In short... pro C is used for DOL and RDOL starting methods and provides current based monitoring and protection. ProV is used for everything which proC can do + for Star Delta applications too. It also provides Current as well as Voltage based protection. 2) Difference between Normal way of Star Delta Starting and Using Simocode? Normally Star Delta is used to reduce Starting current of any Sq Cage Ind Motors, this helps in reducing the stress on Stator windings also controlling the Voltage dip in the bus while starting big motors. Simocode used in such circuits helps in eliminating complex star delta wiring and also provides RUN feedback to the DCS. It also provides "n" no of protections to big motors like Phase failure/ reversal, earth fault, No of Hot/ Cold Starts, contactor welding etc which is either not avaibale in normal star-delta starter or you have to use seprate monitoring relay for it. My Suggestion... If you have to communicate motor paramters to DCS or you have to operate Motor feeders from Remote then only go for Simocode. This will save alot of control cabling and provides seamless integration with automation system. Else, you can use 3RB relays in normal Star-Delta Starters. AttachmentC:\Users\in210417\Desktop\01. Hi jeet2907, here the benefits of SIMOCODE pro system which are mentioned at the system manual: - The quantity of cabling required between the motor feeder and the PLC is reduced significantly by connecting the entire motor feeder to the process control system via the bus (see Fig. 2-1 / 2-2 "SIMOCODE pro, integrated in the main circuit, control circuit and at automation level (PLC)") -Automated processes are decentralized by means of configurable control and monitoring functions in the feeder. This saves automation system resources and ensures that the feeder is fully functional and protected even if the control system or bus system fails. - By recording and monitoring operating, service and diagnostics data in the feeder and process control system, plant availability is increased, and the feeder is easier to service and maintain. - The user can implement plant-specific requirements for every motor feeder thanks to the high degree of modularity. - SIMOCODE pro provides compact solutions and different levels of functions for every customer application. -By replacing the control circuit hardware with an integrated control function, the quantity of required hardware components with wiring is reduced. This drives down storage costs and limits potential wiring errors. - Using electronic full motor protection allows the motors to be used more efficiently and ensures that the tripping characteristic remains stable and the tripping response stays the same, even after many years. Attached the check list also from system manual to find the recommended Basic Unit type. Star-Delta control function is available with SIMOCODE pro S and SIMOCODE pro V.
