SINAMICS G120 - CU240E-2DP - Slow Jog response

My question is, how to increase motor response while Jogging? It takes quite long time before motor starts to rotate under load when jog function is requested. I would like motor to start almost instantly when Jog is requested. Any suggestions how to solve this issue? What parameters to set? Thank You!

I want ramps to be ignored when jogging = instant start. Jog speed is set low - for inching the machine. But I need ramps for regular startup. Barlera: I have set Jog speed at 250 rpm. That speed is for inching the machine. Normal working speed is around 3000 rpm. I just want motor to move instantly after JOG is required. Now it takes too long and it is annoying to wait few seconds for motor to move while machine is setting. Tnx

Tnx For jog, set your ramp rate to as low a value as the drive accepts without faulting. For example, you might be able to set it to 0.5 seconds and get much faster jog response.

P1060/1061 is for JOG, so set those to a very small number that achieves acceptable results without faults. To enable/disable JOG ramp times (for testing), P1164 set to 1 will put your fast jog ramp times in for your normal speeds. Be careful. This should probably be set to 0 and stay at 0.

I am using a similar drive, the CU240S-DP, and pulled up the entries for that drive. I figured that since the CU240E-2 was supposed to be the replacement for the now End-of-life CU240S-DP family, the parameters and options would be similar. Unless someone knows the simple way to configure the drive, you might want to have a digital input for the jog use a different set of parameters. For example, for automatic (no jogging), you would use index[0] data sets. For jogging, you would instruct the drive to use index[1] parameters. Then set the jog ramp rates for P1120[1] much faster than P1120[0]. Now, do not ask me _how_, but it has to be possible with all that BICO technology and there must be experts here who can guide you further. Sorry about the mistake and leading you away from the answer.

You can switch on your drive with OFF2(p844/845)/OFF3(p848/849) set OFF1 (p840)and Enable operation (p852). So you would get in r002 = 0 : Operation - everything enabled Than you can use the Fixed Setpoints for the speed setpoints. I suppose your problem is: After JOG your pulses are disabled - see r002. Than you press JOG and first the motor excitation build-up time in p346 will be active.

I know what You are trying to tell me, but is there more simple way, since my application if fairy simple. I can not use fixed setpoints - and JOG is exactly what I need and that is what it was designed for... I've had many applications build like this before and had no problems. So I find it unbelievable that new product is so hard to configure for basic things... My application: No profibus (will be in use in the future). I use DI0 for normal ON/OFF, analog potentiometer for speed reference and DI2 for JOG (inching the machine) signal. JOG is set to 250 RPM. Normal operational speed is around 1500 to 3000 RPM. I need linear speed reference for normal operation - can not use fixed setpoint. And normal start has to be smooth - ramp 5-10 second. But JOG has to start almost instantly - no ramp. These are basics requirements for the application that I have. Thx!

When using JOG (via profibus now) - response is very slow, since SP is going via RFG. So I want to disable RFG when using JOG (P1122) BUT I cannot access this parameter! It is simple not there! So my million dollar question is, how to disable RFG on Sinamics G120 with BICO!? THANK YOU!

Yu-wen Tang Silver Member Joined: 10/7/2009 Last visit: 12/22/2020 Posts: 264 Rating: (74)	You can create a new CDS1, and in CDS1 change the Ramp-up scaling factor (p1138) and Ramp-dn scaling facttor (p1139) differently from the values of CDS0. When you Jog, change to CDS1 using CU's I/O, and in the end of Jog operation, change it back to CDS0.
