Hi Everyone, When installing STEP7 on a vmware workstation 8 running XP SP3, the installation procedure hangs. The service s7oiehsx blocks and uses 25% of my CPU. When i ignore the errors, all works fine until i whant to go online via ehternet, sometimes the communication server fails and ik have to restart the virtual machine. I asked also the question at http://communities.vmware.com/message/1989279 for all details Yes i know that siemens doens't support the vmware, and i know there are people who are using this successfully with STEP7. (I am using STEP7 SP5 and WinCC flexible) My question: What does the S7oiehsx service exacly? I know it is opening the iso-tsap port on my pc and it is the process "s7oiehsx.exe+0xc66cc" that is causing the delay. Thanks in advance, Coldrestart. |

Hi, The setup just "hangs" so i don't have any error's.Once i killed the process, the setup continous. I also tested it with windows XP SP2 Here some screenshots of proces explorer, as you can see it opens port 102, so i don't think it is just the "help" function, it is IEPG helper -> PG -> communications? I had crashing communication when i go online via ehternet. When i have that error, i will post the error message. Can you give your exact configuration -> windows + installed S7 software with versions? Kind regards Attachmentscreenshots.zip (311 Downloads) |

Hi, First of all, windows HOME edition is always tricky -> siemens doesn't support it. But no worry, you are running a virtual machine, as long as that system is a professional XPedition. I use windows XP mode, it's free from microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx For your USB adapter use the NEW drivers 2.0! Not the 1.2 version. Kind regards. |

VMware Solution: Max CPU usage by S7oiehsx.exe and S7epatsx.exe appears to be related to a change in the VM BIOS (this was not an issue with Workstation 7). Workstation 8's version of the BIOS allows for more CPUs and RAM. Extract the VM BIOS from Workstation 7, then change your VM's settings to use the version 7 BIOS. Running in 8 with a 7 BIOS eliminates the problem. See: http://pete.akeo.ie/2011/06/extracting-and-using-modified-vmware.html Fix/Workaround confirmed with: STEP 7 V5.3 SP2 HF15 STEP 7 V5.4 SP4 HF6 |
