STEP7 V4.0 SP6 would not run on a WIN XP machine

aspirant Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Dear All, I have just installed the STEP7-MicroWIN V4.0 SP6 on a new Vista machine and it runs OK. In order to maintain compatibility I updated my older WIN XP (SP2) machine, which used to run V4.0 SP4, to SP6 as well. I successfully ran the programme on two occasions but after that the programme would not run any more. After starting it i get the STEP7 window and a frame with a message: "Micro/WIN Executable has encountered a problem and needs to close" I would like to add that after the two good runs there had been no changes to the computer: no new installations, configurations etc. I have used the V4.0 SP6 to uninstall itself and went through the lengthy installation + update process again. Unfortunately the effect is the same - the programme halts just after start with the same message. Does anybody know what the problem might be? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
