ranr_mids Posts: 289 Rating: (19)	Hi. I can't install several of the WinCC options as I don't have the pre-requisites - Excel included. I've gone through and replaced all of the tags I have found to be faulty. I am, however getting a number of errors in my WinCC_Sys.log files. The messages all say: DataManager Runtime, Format error of tag 'XXXXXXX', format ID: 0 Anyone know what that means?

ranr_mids Posts: 289 Rating: (19)	Hi Nemo. I've had a look at that FAQ, located the Help file, and that particular error message is not listed. Here follows a copy of one error in it's entirety. 255,28.02.2006,12:31:21:484,1000005,4,,BRITVIC-SERVER,DataManager Runtime,Format error of tag 'DDER_025_01_FT1_PV'. Format ID: 0 = 0(hex) I am presuming the error message is number 1000005, and the type is 4.

ranr_mids Posts: 289 Rating: (19)	Hi NEMO. All my "_PV" tags are signed 16-bit tags. I do have the same problem with other tags, both signed and unsigned 16-bit. I rarely use any other type. If I knew what could cause the error, I might be able to trace where it is coming from.

Salma Posts: 1398 Rating: (151)	This error is usually caused by a data type mismatch. So the tag in WinCC is defined as an unsigned 16bit word is something different in the PLC, say a floating point. This is not a problem in WinCC as long as you use the Adapt Format property of the tag correctly. Is this a possibility in your case?

ranr_mids Posts: 289 Rating: (19)	Hi Salma. The Adapt Format for the tag I posted is set to 'Short To Signed Word' I'm assuming that is the default for a signed 16 bit. The PLC address for that tag is set to Integer. On a totally different tangent, could an error like this be caused from C-script?

Salma Posts: 1398 Rating: (151)	Yes the Adapt Format is correct for the tag type. If I were you I would try two tests: Disconnect the PC from the PLC and see if the errors occur. Export tags to a CSV file (using Tag Export / Import Tool) and import into new project and see if the errors occur. (This is a quick way to remove all script references to your tags)

Salma Posts: 1398 Rating: (151)	In that case it sounds like WinCC is not seeing the correct data type when it gets to the PLC. This may be a problem with the scaling in WinCC. However you say deleting and recreating the tag resolves the error. Assuming you are creating the tag with exactly the same settings then this indicates a fault with the tag settings. If you export tags, make changes in the CSV file and some of these changes are erroneous, the import does not always pick this up. So for example trying to scale an internal or boolean tag. This can then lead to problems further down the line with communications. Could you try importing your tag list into a new project and see if this stops the errors?
