My name is Lothar Schüren. I am a teacher of electrical engineering at a high school in Norway. Currently my students work with PLCs. My students are newbies.
We use the TIA Portal V15 and Simatic S7 1200.
In these Coronavirus times, our students are not at school but working at home. Same as me.
Students have their own PC with relevant programs.
Then I have a question: How can I easily share PLC programs / projects with my students?
I have looked at using libraries, but it seems a bit difficult for our students.
I've created folders in onedrive, but can't open the files.
Does anyone out there have a good and easy solution?

Acutely aware of the possibility that I might be opening myself up to some derision, if I might, I just wanted to presume to expand a little on what Towome has said. The point is that you cannot simply copy a file, or even the directory structure including all files, because the tentacles of your project’s setup go even deeper than that. When you use the archive utility, it doesn’t just compress the data, it also records the full setup, so that when your students use the restore utility to open the archive file you have created, it decompresses all of the data, but it also reproduces the setup exactly as required for your students to get exactly the result you had when you archived it.

If you then set exercises for the students to do, they can return archives of their results to you. If you have lots of students and you restore each file separately, it could take up a lot of space on your storage device!

Well I guess if you're sharing files with onedrive it can't work because only one person can open a tia project at a time (some locks are put on the project file).

If you share it through onedrive you should find a solution either to be sure that no one opens the project directly from OneDrive or either only update from the master project to the student project and never the opposite.

One other solution would be to use the multiuser module of TIA Portal which allows working with several users at the same time BUT it means having all the PCs on the same network so they can upload/download from the server project. This means having some kind of VPN to link the PC together. I would choose this solution only if you need all of them to work on the same project.

Finally you could have a look to standard multi user modules such as SVN or GitHub that allows to publish code on the internet but I've no idea if it's suitable for TIA (generally speaking it's more adapted to manage 'real' source code, in plain text, not binary data such as TIA projects).
