Hello eng.hmk; You can program S7-300 and S7-400 CPUs completely and without restriction with Step 7 Professional, as long as the CPU version is recognized by TIA Portal (older CPUs are not). See this link for more details on Step 7 Professional: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109758795 Note the difference between the Basic and Professional versions of Step 7 (TIA Portal). SIMATIC STEP 7 Professional V15.1 is the high-performance, integrated engineering system for the latest SIMATIC controllers S7-1500, S7-1200,S7-300, S7-400, WinAC and ET 200 CPU. S7-PLCSIM for simulation of the S7-1500, S7-1200 CPU as well as SIMATIC WinCC Basic for configuration of Basic Panels are included in the product package. SIMATIC STEP 7 Basic V15.1 is the easy-to-use engineering system for the small modular SIMATIC S7-1200 controller and the associated I/Os. It includes S7-PLCSIM for simulating the S7-1200 CPU and SIMATIC WinCC Basic for configuration of the SIMATIC Basic Panels. You can easily find the compatibility between a specific CPU and Step 7 Classic (v5.x) and TIA Portal (v1x.x), using the Siemens Compatibility tool. See the link here: Compatibility Tool for Automation and Drive Technology https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/64847781 The Excel file attached is extracted from the Compatibility Tool, and shows the S7-300 CPUs programmable through Step 7 TIA Portal.
