In windows control panel for your virtual machine, what have you set for your PG/PC interface? It needs to be set properly for your ethernet adapter to work in the portal.

Not sure if you solved this, but I am using VMPlayer and I found that after I install the VMTools (which updates gfx, ethernet adapter etc.) then I only have the option of Teleservice in TIA Portal.

I uninstalled it and reinstalled VMTools but unchecked the Ethernet adapter packages and now it works perfectly.

I am not familiar with VMworkstation, but perhaps it is a similar problem.

Only downside I see is that the adapter in my VM is only 10Mbps instead of 1Gbps.

I will post the stuff here, that way everyone can see it if they need to.

What happened to me was, I was running my WinXP VM in VMplayer without VMtools for a little while.

And everything worked fine provided the VM adapter is set to bridge mode.

Then I decided to install VMtools and then I just had the Teleservice option.

So I uninstalled the tools as I said and just deselected the 2 VMtools ethernet options when reinstalling.

Attached are some screenshots. Not sure how much they will help.
