Hi Experts, Since it is prohibited to connect the both CPU's in an S7-400H configuration via IM 460-0/460-1 to a single I/O expansion rack for a switched I/O configuration setup. Which of the two CPU's must be connected via IM 460-0/460-1 to the I/O expansion rack and the redundancy of the system will still be valid?. I think the manual: SIMATIC Fault-tolerant systems S7-400H will answer your question. The item "Configurations" on page 172 lists the valid configurations for redundand 400 I/O systems. As you can see, if you want to use 400 io cards, they have to be identical on both rack0 and rack1 and if you want to use extension racks you also need the same extension racks on cpu0 and cpu1 with the same io cards in the extension racks. In order to use the same distributed io you have to use Y-link (300 type io), at least to have the build in redundancy support. Otherwise you need to make some own redundancy handling which will be a big task compared to make a system using the built in redundancy.
