WinCC flexible 2008 install: Unknown MSI error code: 2

The facts: When installing WinCC flexible 2008 I've got the message "Unknown MSI error code: 2" during the SQL server 2005 installation. Trying to install SQL server by itself I got a warning on COM+ components during the "system configuration check". The solution: I found on MSDN network (after many different trials): ************* Com+ depends on MSDTC, the problem is MSDTC needs to be reinstalled. Run this at the command prompt: At a command prompt, type %WINDIR%\System32\msdtc.exe -install That should fix the problem. ********************** Almost nothing is visible, the excutable runs just a few instants. But it works perfectly. After this I could use the WinCC flexible install without any problem. If it can help somebody I'm just happy...

brzAA Advanced Member Joined: 2/28/2008 Last visit: 4/24/2025 Posts: 35 Rating: (2)	Hello The Body, Yes I checked the FAQ and tryed to reinstall MSDE again after using the cleaning utility exe available from the FAQ. The result was the same. The installation worked properly only after running the file found on the MS developper network. In fact some other people I know diden't have this problem. It seems it was linked to the XP SP2installed on my laptop (Dell D830). Best regards.

The Brain Posts: 1611 Rating: (121)	Hi, if the faq from "The Body" did not solved the problem, then you can only do following. 1.) Install the PC complete new! (this are the quickest way) 2.) Contact the Siemens hotline, wait..., and install after then the PC complete new! Note, that duringinstallation alle virus scanner are deactivated! Maybe some other have a other (better) solution for you. regards,
