ddg Posts: 261 Rating: (42)	SteBo ddg If the operator changes the resolution you can always able to exit from WinCC application and readjust your resolution setting. that's quite hard when the screen is showing only 'signal out of range' resetting under safe mode or auto-button are the ways to go. I mean to say in normal circumstances not in lock out condition. If you change the resolution which is not supported by your HMI then you can always re adjust the resolution. Can you please tell me if everything is right how can the operator moves more than the allowable range of the monitor resolution and put it in ‘signal out of range’? I am not disagreeing about the safe mode. Try to locate the route of problem. Regards,

B'Cause it shows same message if DATA cable is loose or not connected!!! Not if so, can you try with some other monitor just to identify the problemetic party(DATA Cord or Motherboard) I hope that should solve your problem.....

Not if so, can you try with some other monitor just to identify the problemetic party(DATA Cord or Motherboard) I hope that should solve your problem..... it's like the original post said, it happened after an operator changed the resolution, so it's quite clear he was able to set a resolution (instead of testing first )that the screen can't display.

ddg Posts: 261 Rating: (42)	First of all if we have a problem with cable it would be “screen out of signal” not “out of Range”. What SK wrote in his first post “In one of the client PC operator has changed the resolution and after that the monitor is showing “ which denotes that after changing the resolution the problem raised. It’s not an issue with WinCC. The main reasons behind are: 1. If some one put new monitor which is not according to the previous resolution. (As per SK it’s not applicable) 2. HW issue. Which is giving you the permission to move more than your allowable range of resolution supported by your monitor. If HW is OK then you can proceed like. Press F8 and boot with the following option: Enable low-resolution (640x480) Now you can adjust the resolution to match your monitor.

Komi Posts: 291 Rating: (71)	Hi Saravana, Congratulations & ~ Thank you very very very much for providing the best solution!!! (But...pity, I don't have the "Auto Resolution" option in my BIOS.) The followings are just for your reference. I know your problem results from that your customer has set a screen resoltion which beyonds the monitor's capacilty. I had this problem once before. I really know that it's not possible for you to get into the "safe mode" by all means! "Signal Out of Range" with red backgroud kept showing in the center of the monitor. But there's still solutions for saving this problem. (Though ~..quite troublesome -;) 1. Do you have other "monitor" which support highter resolution? If you have one, "exchange of the monitor" might be the easiest way to show you the XP-Screen if the customer hadn't set a really critical resolution. 2. Otherwise, If you have installed and enabled "remote desktop client" in your WinCC-Server or another WinCC client. Then you should be able to log on to the Client-Pc and modification its resolution configuration. (A RPC service works, too!!) 3. There a worst method, if it's not possible by using way#1 or way#2. 3-1. I hope the other WinCC-Client-PC has the same hardware with this problem-Client-PC. 3-2. If positive, then we need to take use of the other WinCC-Client-PC' register file. (It matters that those two PC should have the same kind of VGA/Graphics-Card!! Because the regist of resolution is sorted depends on/ under the VGA sorts.) 3-3. Please export a .reg file from the other WinCC-Client-PC as shown in the attached .jpg file. (You need to check the two settings before exporting!!) 3-4. We need to prepare a Bootable-CD (bootable XP-Embeded CD will be better) and then boot the problem-Client-PC from CD. 3-5. After you can browse the file system in the HD of your problem-Client-PC, copy the .reg file to the original "C:\" directory of your problem-Client-PC. 3-6. Write a .bat file: REM ----------------------------------------- C:\WINDOWS\system32\regedt32.exe C:\Mod.reg REM------------------------------------------ 3-7. put this .bat file to C:\Documents and Settings\siemens\Start Menu\Programs\Startup 3-8. Reboot & remove the bootable-CD from the problem-Client-PC. You will see the "Signal Out of Range" again, but actually the OS is keep booting and the .bat will be then executed. "Signal Out of Range" with red backgroud kept showing in the center of the monitor. glad that it's solved but in worst case scenario, after power off (if no other way, keep power button pressed), you should be possible to get into safe mode on next boot. btw, thw Komi for the other idea's
