Hello again dchartier Correct, by R0 and R1 I mean rack 0 CPU and rack 1 CPU of a redundant 412-5H PLC system. And yes, we're trying to send UDP datagrams from the master CPU to the standby CPU. It may seem odd, but it's for a test that we want somebody with a more powerful H-PLC to run at a later time. In our system we use CP cards, but it will be easier to find someone who can help with the test, if we communicate directly on the CPU interface. What you are saying seems to contradict how Siemens staff have explained to us how the redundant communication works for (Profinet) communication to the CPU interface: We were told that with S2 redundancy, in a case of a wire break on the daisy chain of nodes connected between master and standby CPU, then the nodes on the "left" side of the break will communicate with the "left" CPU, and the nodes on the "right" with the other CPU. The two CPU's then combine the process image through the sync modules. To be clear, Siemens were describing redundant Profinet communication, and open UDP communication may be different. But from the documentation it seems it should be possible to use both CPU's for UDP as well: In the connection parameters, it has to be defined which CPU interface should be used, rack 0 or rack 1: Entry ID: 51339682 Thanks again for your help. |
