Any S7-1200 can use Modbus TCP. See FAQ 102020340 for an example. |

Hello vinayakpayab; You have already been given information from some of the best experts on S7-1200 PLCs in the forum. Your model, 6ES7215-1AL40-0XB0, is not part of the standard products of Siemens. Sometimes Siemens will modify an existing standard model to satisfy the requirements of a specific client, and give this "new" model a distinct part number, since the company it is designed for will have a minimum production contract covering a few years if it wants this particular modificatioon. This model number is not included in the Siemens Industry Mall, the electronic catalog Siemens uses to detail its automation equipment; see the screenshot below. If it cannot be found there, you will find no official description anywhere else in Siemens documents. In one of the first links in this discussion, mopS04 indicated that this was probably a 6ES7215-1AG40-0XB0 modified with additional RAM memory, and suggested that in your program you use this part number to insert the CPU in the hardware configuration. The 6ES7215-1AG40-0XB0 supports Modbus TCP functions MB_CLIENT and MB_SERVER, as all other CPUs of this family (as you can see from the system manual that was proposed earlier). I would suggest that you prepare a test project, using a S7-215-1AG40 as a target hardware, insert Modbus TCP functions in the test program and try to download to your CPU. If you have no problem downloading and the CPU goes onine, then you should proceed to your full program with confidence.
