Hi RajD WinCC is perfectly suited for such applications. However you need some ADD-ONs / options along with WinCC. Also it is neitherfeasible nor advised to connect the meters directly to TCP/IP. Ideally you should split the plan into sections . Each section can be provided with a S7 based Controller which will read all the required parameters from that area over MODBUS TCP/IPand provide the same to WinCC on Ethernet network. If it is a large plant ( Which it seems to be considering that there are 1000 meters ), you should use F.O. cable for ethernet communication links with length > 100 meters. Hi RajD You would not be able to implement a solution using CPY 317-2 DP ( I understand you have thesealso in stock .. else this does not make sense to me ) !! with Redundancy !! ( Why you need redundancy ? ). anyway you cannot plug CP343 in ET200M racks. It would be much more cost effective to use a no of IM 151-8 CPUs ( With onboard Ethernet ). However pl check the max no of TCP/IP connections on one WinCC ( Not mentioned explicitly anywhere ). I doubt 1000 meters will be easy to integrate like this. You can transfer the Captured data from the PCs to the servers using OPC built into WinCC. Somehow I am not convinced that this is a good solution. Maybe a better solution would be to use your PCs with MODBUS TCP/IP OPC Server ( Third party ) and run WinCC in the Main Server for displayig data and generting reports. Good Luck Cheers Navnag |
