S7-1214, build 7 HSC using input I1.4 and I1.5

normally S7-1214 has only 6 High speed counters,

is it easy to build the seventh HSC using input I1.4 and I1.5 for example?

1) At what pulse frequency? / What is the shortest time between pulses?
2) Using on-board IO or from add-on cards?

I1.4 and I1.5 cannot be linked to a signal board.
So which is it?

Attached is where you can configure a hardware interrupt that links to the input. In the hardware interrupt you need to have some code:

myCounter := myCounter + 1

You will have to test if the 5kHz will be okay or not. My concern is that your PLC cycle will be effected.

I suggest when you return that you share a sample program piece that contains the x2 fast counters that you are looking to add to your project.

Your response make no sense.

1. There is no HSC number 7. There are only x6 HSCs.

2. I1.4 and I1.5 is not fast inputs

3. It is not possible to declare Ix.4 and Ix.5 on the signal board (SB).

4. You have not confirmed where I1.4 and I1.5 is coming from: PLC or SM.


If HSC1 to HSC6 is already used and extra fast counting on inputs are required: Create hardware interrupts as shown in the previous attached picture.

1- Yes Sir,  I know that S7-1214 support only 6 HSC ;

    but my project need 7 HSC , because I have 7 encoders won't work in the same time.

2- from I0.0 to I0.7 and I1.0 to I1.5 belong to the CPU S7-1214 .

    But when I checked the filter of the 14 inputs (I0.0 to I1.5), I found that all adjustable 

   ( 6.0 ms to 0.1us ).

3- Yes , It is not possible to declare Ix.4 and Ix.5 on the signal board (SB) = I'm agree with you 

4. I1.4 and I1.5 are coming from: PLC of course.
