WinCC OPCServer.WinCC.1 server in the Identity - cannot configure the user account to "This User".

I have the same case as mentioned. I would like to change the "OPCServer.WinCC.1" user from "Interactive User" to "This User". After created the "This User" and activated WinCC runtime, the user setting will change to "Interactive User" automatically. 

Reason behind of using "This user", the OPC client will have 8000401A error after running a period of time if you not create the "This User" or remote logged on the OPC server. 

How to configure it?

Maybe this time I can help someone.

I stumbled upon this issue with a wincc 7.4 installation.

The opc connection from external system only worked when the user was set, but WinCC kept toggling the setting to "interactive user".

Yes there is the option of starting the project as a service, and setting the proper user, but in my scenario this was not viable since a local self starting project was requested.

In the end, I simply modified the access permissions of the reg key

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/AppID/{OpcServer ID}

so that only the proper user (different from the local one) was permitted to modify it.

That's all. The setting in the "identity" tab turns gray and everything works fine.
