ASWIN KUMAR Experienced Member Joined: 12/3/2013 Last visit: 4/30/2024 Posts: 51 Rating: (0)	I have one engineering station, redundant server and two client stations running on WinCC V7.4 SP1. When I try to edit the c script in the pictures in the Engineering Station, it says "The server is currently not available. You cannot edit any actions at this time." What does it mean. Basically, I want to edit the pictures and c Script from engineering station. How it has to be done.

bg2492 Posts: 7298 Rating: (2188)	Hello ASWIN KUMAR, Either you have not yet set the rigth Computername in the computerproperties of the Server in the project. Or the share of the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Siemens\WinCC" was lost. This folder is shared as SCRIPTFCT". You can set the share new in this case. Every time when i edit the pictures from the Engineering station, do i need to change the computer name of the server, where all my pictures are there, to the local computer name. Is it so? So what I have: -Shared project folder in the OS Server and in the ES, with all permissions set for Everybody -Shared script folder in the OS Server and in the ES, with all permissions set for Everybody -Same admin username and password on both stations What I'm trying to do: -Edit C-scripts in the ES, but I'm getting the error Server not available. Should I change the computer name of the OS Server station to the ES computer name every time I want to edit a c-script? Or am I missing some configuration in the middle that I'm not seeing, so that my ES can get to the script folder?

If you open WinCC Explorer on the ES, check that the ComputerName of the server IS the PC Name of your ES.

When I open a .pdl and open the WinCC project the name in the computer properties should be the name of my ES computer? And when you perform a download to the server station it changes automatically? Right now I have it with the server name, see attached image. I have ES in Simatic Manager, not in PCS7 but I guess it should be similar. In WinCC Explorer the computer name should be the name of your ES computer. If you have a setting in PCS7 where you configure your server properties (please check attachment), make sure to uncheck "Computer name identical to PC station name" and leave "Computer name:" empty. If so, performing a download to the server station should change the computer name automatically indeed, if your ES is configured correctly. I assume that working with an ES in PCS7 is quite similar to working with an ES in Simatic Manager. If you want to be sure, you could try it on a non-critical moment (with a backup to rollback).
