Constant value move.

First of all i want to say Hello!

This is my first post here, and i have to mention that i'm new to this PLC stuff, so i think that my problem will be pretty obvious for you guys.

My problem is that i have to constantly move value form position 1 to 8. For example i need to move 1111 into position 1, then move position 1 (1111), into position 2 to make space in positon 1 for next number (2222).

Down the site there is a picture to make it more understandable. Please explain to me which tools do i have to use, to make it work properly.

Also i tried to use search engine, but i couldn't find anything usefull. Please do forgive everything that i done wrong.

Hi, are you talking just about numbers?

If yes, then you can just use arrays. For example: ARRAY[1..8] OF INT .

If you will use variable as array, then you can just use simple actions for manipulating.

stVariables : ARRAY[1..8] OF INT; // this is at static or at DB

// Code for manipulating of data

T #stVariables[8];

;

L #stVariables[6];

T #stVariables[7];

;

L #stVariables[5];

T #stVariables[6];

;

L #stVariables[4];

T #stVariables[5];

L #stVariables[3];

T #stVariables[4];

T #stVariables[3];

And then just load something st stVariables[1].

This is only example, at real application you can use also LOOP or something like this.

Ok. So i'm not done with this yet. I can't move it by hand... Everytime if there's a new number incoming i need to have free slot for it, so i think i have to use loops. Lets say that the new number is coming from a positive edge of a sensor... and i have to move those values down eveytime there is a new number incoming... Any kind of help would be appreciated.

What PLC are you using? The easiest way for a beginner is to move all values 1 forward at the rising edge. This can be done in LAD also, if you wish to keep it simple to understand.

Move value 7 -> value 8

Move value 6 -> value 7

Move value 5 -> value 6

Move value 4 -> value 5

Move value 3 -> value 4

Move value 2 -> value 3

Move value 1 -> value 2

Move new value  -> value 1

Ok so why it doesn't work? I have the same value in each position.

 Here's a simple sample made in LAD. You can copy this, and translate it to STL if you want.
