Replacement CPU 314 IFM == > 314C 2 DP ... is it OK ?

The old CPU is 314 IFM 6ES7 314 5AE10-0AB0 The new one is 314C 2DP 6ES7 314-6CG03-0AB0 I am confused with the letters IFM... cannot find what does it mean :-( So can I simply change the CPUs? (+modify HW conf. and transfer SW) I know that is a stupid question, but I am not expert for S7 300 systems. Thanks for answers. Jiri.

I thing 314C 2DP hasgreatsize as 314IFM. You can use CPU314 or new CPU314--2 with Profinet.

The memory thing is not the problem, the IFM has onboard Frequency Meter, the 314 c too but i'm afraid you have to change some software to get it working.

Best thing you can do is attach your software here and whe can have a closer look at it.

thank you very much for your answers !!!

Sometimes the builders choose a CPU with more functions to be prepared for the future. your choise is not right either, if you don't need highspeed counters why the C model?
