Softstarter 3RW44 Baud rate change

Sibelco MHZ Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hi Guys, We use a softstarter 3RW44 with profibus. We have problems with the baud rate... In my search in manuals and internet i've found that the baud rate is automatically detected by the system... In our case we have a 500kb/s but the softstarter puts the baud rate to 12.000kb/s So the softstarter is useless because we can't communicate with it. Anyone an idea how to change the baud rate? We tried via control panel on softstarter and via laptop software without results, impossible to change the baud rate... Hoping on a resolving answer! Thanks!

Hello, Please make a visual inspection of the profibus network. Check the profibus cable installation with bus connectors, termination resistances,..etc. Check the serial numbers of both softstarters & profibus module. As it is stated clearily in page 8-7 of this manual "Manual SIRIUS 3RW44 Soft Starters": Notice The PROFIBUS DP communication module only works with 3RW44 devices ofproduct version "E06" or higher, implemented for devices from production date060501 onwards. Please apply "Restoring to factory setting" as descriped in the above manual in page 5-40. Follow instructions as per page 8-10 of the above manual to activate the profibus communication. Baud rate is auto-detected by the network. You should download the HW configuration on the CPU and it should works if all the above points were checked /done. Hope this helps.

Sibelco MHZ Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hi Mr. Elotaify, Thank you for the quick answer! at the moment we have a softstarter for replacement 3RW446-6BC46 G/101020 with the profibus module 3RW4900-0KC00 G/100218 E04 And this setup works ok. When I install the original softstarter 3RW4436-6BC44 G/110609 with profibus module 3RW4900-0KC00 G/101008 E04 We get the baud rate problem. Is it because the profibus module of the original softstarter not the correct one is? Maybe you see why we have this situation? Friendly greetings!

Hello, Please clarify this point: Do you have a motor worked with this Softstarter: 3RW4446-6BC46 SIRIUS SOFT STARTER, VALUES WITH 690 V, 40 DEG., STANDARD: 356A, 355KW, INSIDE-DELTA CIRCUIT 3: ONLY UP TO 600V, 400-690 V AC, 230 V AC, SCREW TERMINALS And you want to relpace this softstarter with: 3RW4436-6BC44 SIRIUS SOFT STARTER, VALUES WITH 400 V, 40 DEG., STANDARD: 162A, 90KW, INSIDE-DELTA CIRCUIT 3: 281A, 160KW, 200-460 V AC, 230 V AC, SCREW TERMINALS Please note the differences between two softstarters and from communication point of view, you have to modify the partnumber in HW configuration.

Hello, Now I can tell that I am very much confused! Do you have currently three softstarters? or two? And if you want to usethe3RW4436-6BC44again, how can you relize it while there is a problem in it as you told? And what is this problem? Did you modified HW config. to meet any changes in the network or not?

Sibelco MHZ Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Sorry for the confusion! in the installation we have a 3RW4436-6BC44 that is connected to a pump. Some time agowe had a problem with this softstarter, so we replaced it by 3RW446-6BC46 (spare item) and worked without problems. now we have the 3RW4436-6BC44 back and wanted to installit back to his original place. And we could not command the softstarter by profibus. Even if I take the profibus module from the 3RW446-6BC46 The profibus installation is not modified. We compared the data on the 3RW4436-6BC44 with the 3RW446-6BC46 and noticed that the baud rate wasn't the same. what do you mean bymodification in the HW config? I appreciate and want to hank you again for the quick response!

Hello Sibelco, When you install a new softstarter or change softstarter in profibus network, you have to change it in HW config as well. And then redownload it to the CPU. In the attached picture, there is an example of HW config which containing a lot of part numbers. select the suitable (installled) partnumber inyour case, put necessary parameters and then redownload it to the CPU. We tried several things and eventually we noticed that the communication dropt when we connected te profibus cable. We just had to change one parameter, the one for "Parameters disabled CPU/master" to ON QUESTION: At saving of the parameter settings are the parameter into the Soft Starter 3RW44 overwritten by Profibus. ANSWER: Reason of the behaviour of the Soft Starter 3RW44 is that the parameters are overwritten by Profibus because the parameter disabled is not set. Please check as follow at 3RW44 display: Menu Settings (3) - Field bus (10) call on Soft Starter display - Field bus interface ON (1) Parameters disabled CPU/Master (7) -> set to ON and then enter the menu - Saving options (11) - Save settings (1) After restart of the Soft Starter the redesigned settings are available. Thank you anyways for your help!
