Using the arrow keys from TDE in a FBD program (How to ?)

Hello Logo users and admins,

I'm almost done with a very nice program, developed using a Logo 8 BM (RCo), and a Logo TDE display.

The Logo Manual and other related documents say that we can use the arrow keys from the TDE Display as "inputs" into our programs. OK, but how ?

I used all the arrow keys from the LSC programming interface which provided me with (4), and tried to make some menu system happening ... :-) ... all well, compiled well, wrote it into the Lego BM well ! BUT:

1. The main menu page is designed to be accessed when Left and Right arrows are pressed together longer than 3 seconds. All goes well in simulation mode (without the BM turned ON) but once you write the program into the BM and you press the two keys ... nothing happens. How can I deal with this ?!

2. No matter what you do with the Down key in your program, it only does what you intended to do in simulation mode only. Once the program is written into the Logo BM ... again (like the problem at no.1) ... the Down key is showing an internal menu of the BM (like what inputs are active, what outputs are ON or OFF ... etc ... I don't need that !) but is not doing what you "told" it to do into your program !

3. The UP key is the only one which works as intended, eg. You want the screen to go Amber backlight-ed when you press the UP Key on the TDE, it does that both in simulation mode and in program running mode. So that's OK ... :-)

What menu I need to find in Settings or Configuration of the BM and TDE to cancel the current behaviour / default behaviour of the Left, Right and Down arrow keys of the TDE ?! ... or another solution please.

Remember, everything works in simulation mode, once written into the BM, ... the "fun" begins ! ... :-))

One solution is to delay the key release with off-delay for 0,3-0,5s. If you press the two keys in a quick sequence is like you press them both .

Another solution is to use a two function key: a short press for function (output) 1, a long press for function (output) 2.

Some observations regarding the 0BA8 version and the dual function key model  (short/long key press):

- If you plan to use the internal web server the dual function key model is impractical since you cannot keep the directional keys pressed in the browser interface (or I don’t know how); you can only click the directional keys .

- For a program migrated from 0BA6 to 0BA8 the  dual function key behavior was quite a problem. Everything worked fine on LOGO simulation but on the real hardware the result was quite erratic and I was obliged to add off delay filters (0.2s) for the C (directional) keys. It seems the C  (directional) keys generate some time a double impulse for a push. I don’t know if it’s a bug in 0BA8 or only a defective batch .
