MANIAC_69 Member Joined: 12/13/2021 Last visit: 2/11/2022 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Dear all, Situation: - I have downloaded the example image (example-V3.1.1.wic) and installed it to SD card with Win32DiskImager - Installed SD card into IOT 2040 and could logon with SSH and account "root" - Installed cifs utils with "cifs-utils-6.14.tar.bz2" since we not have internet on that device - Enabled SMB Version 1-3 on Windows server - Tried to connect to a Windows share on server \\10.10.10.11\share with the following commands (C:) and received the following messages (M:) Info: IP, sharename, username and password were replace to non real values, rest of commands are unmodified C: mount -t cifs 10.10.10.11/share /dev/win M: mount.cifs: bad UNC (10.10.10.11:/share) C: mount -t cifs //10.10.10.11/share /dev/win -o username=U53R,password=pa55w0rd M: mount error(13): Permission denied Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs) and kernel log messages (dmesg) C: man mount.cifs M: -sh: man: command not found C: mount -t cifs -o vers=1.1 10.10.10.11/share /dev/win -o username=U53R password=pa55w0rd M: mount: bad usage Try 'mount --help' for more information. C: mount -t cifs -o 10.10.10.11/share /dev/win -o username=U53R password=pa55w0rd M: Couldn't chdir to password=pa55w0rd: No such file or directory C: mount -t cifs -o 10.10.10.11/share /dev/win -o username=U53R password=pa55w0rd M: Couldn't chdir to password=pa55w0rd: No such file or directory C: mount -w //10.10.10.11/share /dev/win username=U53R password=pa55w0rd M: mount: bad usage Try 'mount --help' for more information. Entries in dmesg: CIFS VFS: Malformed UNC in devname. CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -13 CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -13 Status code returned 0xc000006d NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE I tried to connect with a Raspberry4 and could connect the server, mount the share and write files on the share without any problems. The messages that I recieved from the system (Couldn't chdir to password=pa55w0rd), (mount: bad usage), (mount error(13): Permission denied) looks as the syntax for mount on Yocto is different as I know from my Linux distributions, but I can't find a man page. Once the connect is successful, we plan to implemet this in fstab. So if the syntax there is different too, any hints to solve the problem are welcome. Thanks in advance

There basically the steps you have performed are described (a user posted a PDF with all the steps), but the mount command is used without the password=pa55w0rd option. As it is described the password is prompted after the command. Can you try that? Best regards!

The folder on github is empty, nothing to download 2. the file was found at samba, but not as tar.gz file but as tar.bz2 3. when trying to extract with the given command I always got error message that the arcive is invalid or too short I found that thread already before and tried to work as described: Downloaded the same version (6.6) as in PDF from Samba.org but same errors. So I tried the command I used for extracting last week (tar -xvf cifs-utils-6.6.tar.bz2) with version 6.14 and could continue with the command: "autoreconfig -i" "/configure" gave me the message:"-sh: /configure: No such file or directory" and there is indeed no such subfolder¨and I tried "./configure" followed by "make" what worked and "make install" (as I did last week ). Rebooted the IOT with "reboot" Jumped over section 2 of the PDF since as MCSE I know how to share a folder and grant access (which works fine for the configured user with configured password from a Raspberry device) Tried to connect the share and get the error: "mount error(13): Permission denied". Changed the password on the Windows server to avoid typos due to the srtrong password but even with easy password not possible to logon Further hints ?

Steps I did on the IOT2040: Download cifs-utils-6.6.tar.bz2 from here Copy the file to the IOT2040 Extract it with tar -xf cifs-utils-6.6.tar.bz2 cd cifs-utils-6.6.tar.bz2 autoreconf -i ./configure make make install create the user Siemens with password siemens Steps I did on Windows 10: User is Siemens, password is siemens Create a Shared folder on the Desktop named Share Give the user Siemens full access for this folder Activate SMB V1 I was then able to mount the folder with: mount.cifs //192.168.200.16/Share /mnt/Share -o user=Siemens After issuing the command I was prompted for the password. Best regards!

MANIAC_69 Member Joined: 12/13/2021 Last visit: 2/11/2022 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Just tried to connect with the command you provided: mount.cifs //192.168.200.16/Share /mnt/Share -o user=Siemens Name of share and username beginning with capitals (these are usually not key sensitive on Windows), password entered respecting lower-case and uppercase characters is the same as when copying the command with only lowercase characters Values for IP, share, mountpoint, username replaced and added "pass=xxx" according info when entering "mount.cifs" without any parameters: Usage: mount.cifs <remotetarget> <dir> -o <options> Mount the remote target, specified as a UNC name, to a local directory. Options: user=<arg> pass=<arg> dom=<arg> Less commonly used options: credentials=<filename>,guest,perm,noperm,setuids,nosetuids,rw,ro, sep=<char>,iocharset=<codepage>,suid,nosuid,exec,noexec,serverino, mapchars,nomapchars,nolock,servernetbiosname=<SRV_RFC1001NAME> directio,nounix,cifsacl,sec=<authentication mechanism>,sign,fsc Options not needed for servers supporting CIFS Unix extensions (e.g. unneeded for mounts to most Samba versions): uid=<uid>,gid=<gid>,dir_mode=<mode>,file_mode=<mode>,sfu Rarely used options: port=<tcpport>,rsize=<size>,wsize=<size>,unc=<unc_name>,ip=<ip_address>, dev,nodev,nouser_xattr,netbiosname=<OUR_RFC1001NAME>,hard,soft,intr, nointr,ignorecase,noposixpaths,noacl,prefixpath=<path>,nobrl Options are described in more detail in the manual page man 8 mount.cifs To display the version number of the mount helper: mount.cifs -V getting the result: mount error(13): Permission denied Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs) changed the password on Windows device using the clipboard (to avoid any typos) and got the same result. chmod for mountpoint set to 777: drwxrwxrwx 2 root root 4096 Aug 13 2019 NTFS and share permissions on Windows set to "full control" for user that is used for connecting Checked SMB settings: Display Name Name Install State ------------ ---- ------------- [X] SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support FS-SMB1 Installed EnableSMB2Protocol ------------------ False Which means, SMB1 active, SMB2/3 not available No firewall between devices, a Raspberry running Rasbian Linux works fine.
