Hello Tomy; Your Simovert part number corresponds to a Simovert Masterdrive VC (vector control, standard drive, a servo type Masterdrive would be named MC, motion control). First, here is a link to the Simovert Masterdrive gsd files; you have to choose the one you download based on the Profibus communication module that you use on your drive, for example a CBP2 (6SE7090-0XX84-0FF5): https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/48172137 And here is an example project implementing speed control on a Masterdrive using Profibus-DP: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/20386822 This last link is to the Simovert Masterdrive VC Compendium, the ystem manual for these drives.. Chapter 8 discusses Profibus in detail, chapter 9 examines the Control Word and Status word structures. This information might be of help in your project. https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109736629 Hope this helps, |

Hello Tomy; Open the link to the Compendium I proposed earlier, and look at section 8.1 on the USS protocol. It shows how you can use the RS 485 interface of the Masterdrive to control it over USS. USS is quite close to Profibus, at least it is simlar, so if you have dealt with Profinus and Siemens drives you should be in familiar territory. USS was the standard way of exchanging with Masterdrives if you has a S7-200 CPU, since they did not have a Profibus master capability. The next point to examine is the controller you will use for this project. The S7-200 has been removed from the market and are no longer available. S7-300 and S7-400 CPUs do not have a library of functions for USS. S7-1200 and S7-1500 CPUs do support USS as part of their instruction list: here is an application example with a V20 servodrive that you can adapt with the information from the Compendium. https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109480894 Hope this helps Daniel Chartier |
