Hi, I do not mind about the data saved or maximum writing cycles, I'm worried about the temp files that uses the Operative System. Usually, with Industrial PC, the main problem that could appear is a power off when is writing in system or temp files. For example: Microbox PC 427B has a small battery that allows save data to prevent failures. I have not enough experience with the IOT and the OS Yocto to know how will work in a machine that switch off one or two times per day... Has the OS any kind of protection to avoid this kind of failure? I has find an interesting article but I´m not sure about which will be the best solution to implement with the IOT 2000 (thank you in advance for your help)

Hi Miguel, did I get you right, you only want to make sure that the operating system won't get corrupted? If yes: is mounting the rootfs as "read only" an option for you? Then you could simply use another partition for everything that needs to be written and your operating system won't ever get touched. http://docs.cray.com/books/S-2341-22/html-S-2341-22/le14643-parent.html |
