I'm having a problem when trying to download to a PLC. The error message is shown at the attached file, but basically it informs me that my project is using legacy communication to transfer the password, and it asks me to enter password to gain full access.

However, it doesn't accept password defined in the TIA project and it seems that it expects password from the project that is currently loaded to the PLC. I want to download a complete new program, and I'm not sure how to solve this.

Is there any other way, maybe to turn off this legacy communication? If that is a solution, I'm not sure where to change that in TIA v17 project.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

If I understand you correctly you have a PLC with an application loaded to it. You do not have the source files for this project and you do not have access to the password. And, now you wish to overwrite the current application with a new one. But since it's a safety application it doesn't let you.

In this case, I would resort to loading the program to the SMC directly and put it back into the PLC. This is assuming you're working with a 1200/1500 system.

I had the same issue and was able to fix it

using the S7-1500 PLC screen, under settings > go to "Card handling" > delete user program > OK

This will allow you to download your program again without a password!
