TIA V11 crashes when trying to go online

V11 SP2 update 4 is starting to crash when i trying to go online my 2 plc's project. plc 1 workingjust okand i can go online but when i trying to go online with plc2, tia portal crashes. (program not responding) A few days ago everything was just fine. I can ping both cpu's. Windows 7 pro 4GB ram

I do not know what the optimal memory footprint is for portal on win7, but on xp-32bit 4GB is barely enough to run it efficiently. I believe on win7, you might need 8 GB for some online activities. One thing to note about the portal software is that once it crashes the first time, it is more likely to crash unless the computer is restarted. Post your results!

Karmat Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	I think that memory issue is ok. Becausea few days ago everything was just fine. 2 plc's online at the same time was ok. I work with the cpu's over VPN. I must go on the site and restore factory defaults and hope that its working. Kari

Karmat Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	VPN is working just fine. I can connect bouth cpu's at the same time over vpn. Two cpu's are at the my new home. (Home automation system) Firewallis Zyxel Zywall USG 50 and I use SSL vpn connection. (firewallfeature)CPU thinks that I am connected my home LAN because firewall is management vpn. And I solve crash issue. Reboot the cpu solve problem. Thank you all.

Its very good that you try to solve and workaround the problems, but I would like to encourage you to contact Siemens support if that was a 'crash'. It is just very important to us all to send as much crashes to support as possible, so that upcomming V12 verion will have as less bugs as possible. I always choose Siemens support instead some worarounds. If software crashes with the appropriate message saying that 'V11 has crashed and need to be closed' then it is most likely a bug.

All that happened is that I couldn't connect to it any more. When I tried to connect to it I got the message "Unable to connect". The help message is: 'A CPU to which you want to establish an online connection is not available (for example due to a disconnected cable or a lack or connection resources).' I could however ping that IP address over the VPN. I have had this problem with on S7-1200 on a LAN as well. In this case it is easy to reboot the controller to fix the problem because it's normally accessible. This particular controller is 500km away from me so I couldn't cycle the power myself. Please inform me as to how to escalate a fault like this to Siemens and I will gladly do it! Richard Mackay
