You're assumption about the minimum runtime is correct. If the condition is not satisfied anymore and the min. runtime is expired, the SFC still waits for the transition to be fulfilled so transition + min runtime must be set.

For the maximum runtime, if it's reached then a runtime errors occurs and a message is generated. If you use an allocation strategy, a TimeOut status occurs when claiming the EM.

If I have minimum step time (Run times) of 5s, which means the step will run for at least 5s even when the transition condition is satisfied earlier, right? So if I have it set to 5 mins, even if the transition condition is satisfied in the 2nd minute, it will still wait for another 3 mins before it transitions into another step?

For maximum step time of SFC, what happens if the maximum time is reached? What's an example use case of max step time?

If I leave max step time to be blank, it means the step will be always running (infinite duration) until a transition condition is satisfied? For now, I prefer leaving max time blank, is there any disadvantage of leaving it blank?
