I installed Step 7 v5.5 on my Windows 7 several weeks ago and I haven't been able yet to connect online to PLCs with the usb pc adapter. The problem is that when I try to select the USB conection in the "Local Connection" tab of the PG/PC selection window, it only appears the COM1 option. I have read in the forum that the Step 7 v5.5 has implemented de usb drivers for the PG/PC but how can I select it?? Do I need to activate it or do something special?? Many thanks in advance!! I attach the view of the local connection options of the PG/PC window (sorry it is in spanish) Attachment:PG_PC_no_USB.jpg (98 Downloads) Dear All, I am also facing the similar problem with my laptop i.e. when I am clicking on properties button of PC adapter Auto/MPI/Profibus/PPI I am getting following message "Your PG/PC has no local connection foroperating the device 'PC adapter'" I am getting option "none" in connection to paramterof local connection tab. Is there any solution for this? Thanks and regards

I'm not sure but I can choise between COM 1, COM 3 and COM 4. But I have installed STEP 7 V5.5+SP2. (I don't have SP2) Still problem couldn't be resolved. The same setup(V5.5) I have used in other Laptop with Windows 7. and It is working properly. I am getting option "none" in new laptop with Windows 7 professional. PC adapter setup cannot be run after installing V 5.5 as It gives message as V8.2 already installed and lower version cannot be installed on this.

josemiall Posts: 12 Rating: (0)	Dear Rockon, Finally I was able to fix the problem. I needed to reinstall Step 7. After it I checked and the USB driver still was missing, however, I connected the USB pc adapter to the computer and then I connected to a PLC (you need to conect to PLC because the PC adapter supply comes from PLC side) and the PC adapter was automatically recognised and USB driver installed also automatically. Hope this helps. Regards.
