Communcation problem with IM308C

I have used COM profibus to configure 4 number of ABB ACS 800 drive (using GSD file). Communication was establised and working fine, I was able to start/Stop, Give Speed reference, Receive Status word, Speed, Current and frequecy from the drive via L PW xxx for input and T PW xxx for outputs. Today all of a sudden I started getting some abnormal values at the Input words from the drive. Intially I thought the problem was with the drive, but even after removing the profibus cable some values are coming. This is happening for some of the addresses only like L PW 138, L PW 140. It is really a confusion why such things are happening. Please help me to resolve the issue.

fritz Diamond Expert Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 9/10/2025 Posts: 3049 Rating: (1062)	Hello Saravana kumar interesting problem and while I don't have a smoking gun for you, here are some thinsgfor you to check: To start with, see chapter 6.1 of the ET 200 Distributed I/O System with IM 308-C and S5-95U manual which has some important info on adddressing and what to look out for and the two most important ones are: 1.) By default, the IM 308-C uses the address space (F)F800H to (F)F9FFH for addressing the distributed I/O. No part of these address areas may be used by other modules such as CPs, IPs in the CP area, central I/O in the IM3/IM4 area or the WF 470 positionsensing module in the central programmable controller. 2.) S5-135U and S5-155U (applicable for your 948 CPU): If an input/output module is inserted in the central programmable controller, you must not assign any P or Q addresses for the IM 308-C if they are also used by this input/output module! If you use the entire Q area for the IM 308-C, do not insert an input or output module in the central programmable controller (host). I hope this helps and please let us know what you find.

Actually drive engineering tried to control the drive through 'Drive Window' even when drive was at Remote mode. Which means PLC is having control on the drive. As soon as he started forcing value like 436h, 476h , 47Fh from drive window the PLC addresses are getting affected. We checked the same multiple times. Finally informed the drive engineer to disconnect Drive Window. Now everything is working well.
