Reymond Posts: 112 Rating: (0)	Dear Colleagues, Good day I will convert s5 programs but when I generate the AWL and going to compile it I got error as there is DB 0 on the code. I am using S5-155U, also I got L BS 120 what will be the equivalent of this in s7? Thank you in advance

You will not need this DB in your S7 project. Memory organisation does not rely on DB0 anymore in S7 systems. Just skip DB0. L BS120 is an instruction accessing system data of the CPU. The CPU948 programming guidesays: System data RS 120 controls the system function "software protection". That also does not work that way anymore in Step7.

For example LIR 1 in a cpu 928 or 948 means: access in memory the address of accu 1 and read the content to accu 1 low word. There is no direct way to replace these commands in Step7. In the S5 you usually start reading the start address of a data block out of db0 using a LIR command. After some checks (db exists and is long enough) you start accessing the data you are interested in the original data block, maybe organized in data sets. Sorry but you 'll need to write these blocks anew. There is no way to convert such blocks. Good luck

The C DB0 is probably preceeded by DO MWx or DO DWx. This is an intirect adressing method and can be substituted in Step7 by OPN DB[MWx] or OPN DB[DBWx]. KaOst Edit: And if you want more help with the LIR / TIR commands, you must show us the 10-15 preceeding code lines.

Hence i'd like to see the original S5 function block. In general this function seems to check if some data blocks are available in the cpu. If not they seem to be created automatically. Good luck

I'm having the same issues than you were on some time ago, years indeed.

I am migrating from S5 to S7, 115U CPU 9446 to S7-300, and the convertion returns the next routine, here you have the S5 code and the convertion returned for the tool. But still have some code to convert.

Could you help me?

I understand that BS or RS are Status words, but can you tell something more about this covertion?
