I have a little problem with a S7-200 CPU, actually not with it but with an inspection camera attached to it. The thing is supposed to give out an output to the S7-200 and based on that the CPU can tell that an eyemark has been seen or not. Now I am trying to troubleshoot this by looking atsome signals in the status chart, and initially I had it going, even if, as the chart status parameters are saying, you cannot pick up status data faster than a quarter of a second. Then another day I tried to check the same simptoms on a machine identical to this one, just with maybe an older version of the CPU. But now, when I went online I got a message saying "execution status disabled" and I could not use the status chart. When trying the help, it said that certain versions of CPU do not support this feature, looking at the signals in your PLC online and I presumed that was why I could not add my signals and look at them. But than, some day later I tried to come back to the first machine and I got this same message again, even if I had been able to use the status chart previously Could someone tell me what is this related to and what is really the best way to troubleshoot if you are unsure of a signal sequence happening?

Sorry for the previous thread, I was saying that the second machine had an older CPU version, not true, they are identical. About ports...I would not know, but I don't think so. The connection between the PG and the PLC is on the PPI port, it is a point to point and you define an unique communication port when you do the configuration of the link. If you need a second port for looking at the status chart and the system does that somehow for you, that could be, but I have no idea. I can be online with the CPU and can see what is happening rung-wise. The only thing I cannot do is to get the singnals in the status chart to start getting acquired and displayed as the machine runs. Like that I can have several time charts lined up and I can tell clearly why an output got done, looking at the rungs flickering does not quite do it, as it is a pretty fast motion. Of course, if they occur too fast, I will not be able to see it, as the chart only displays samples ones in 250ms, but at least if I see the output getting done I can tell why it happened. Thanks for any suggestion. PS: If you knew of a method of dumping all this in a CSV file, spreadsheet or whatever, so that I could later on display and analyse them, that would be really great. But you can't see value is changing, because it's going to fast? You're searching for a solution to get the values in a CSV or something like that? Then I have a solution for you. It is the DATALOG function. There you can define variables to watch for. The datalog function saves them into a CSV on memory cartridge. With S7-200 Explorer you can upload the file and open it with Excel. The datalog you can find at wizard. Have a look to system manual for more information. I'm little bit confused. On the one side it works to see values, on the other side you get error?! It can be, that Release 1.10 don't support status chart, because it's very old release. But I don't know that really. So, I hope the work around with datalog helps you to get a diagnose. best regards

My problem WAS yes, the variables in the status chart not moving. I meant you could open it and you would have initial values, but no further development. Lamely, it seems to have been just the button triggering the aquisition not being pressed - you know, the button with the glasses. The "status exection disabled" message did not have anything to do with this. Once more, thank you.
