Fuse blowing in 4Q DC Drive

Kamrul.islam Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hello, Kutty Hello, We are using 6RA70D DC Drive for Centrifuge application. IN that particular drive is running at rated speed, suddenly the incomming fuse is gone whilepower failure condition. This is four quadrant dc drive. Is there any parameterization or motor problem? Most of power failure condition that event is happend. I am facing also above problem in my 4Q DC drive whilepower failure condition. In the other hand I am using some 2Q DC drives for the same application. These 2Q drives' fuses remain ok while power failure condition. Is there any simple solution or parameterization, Please help it is urgent. Or how can I use my 4Q drives as a 2Q because in 2Q drives do not occur incoming fuse blown. Advance thanks.

PISCEAN 2010 Diamond Expert Joined: 4/23/2010 Last visit: 12/31/2023 Posts: 8092 Rating: (877)	Hi, If you want to use your 4Q drive as 2Q drive, you need to add external hardware contactor logic either for field reversalor for armature reversal. But be aware, in case of 2Q drive you can not get regenerative braking as fast as 4Q. Also check, whether your application demands 4Q. If so, converting into 2Q, youmay land into another type of probems. By the way, please specify the MLFB number of drive & details of motor along with fuse details. Moreover, have you connected line chokes, filters to power AC input side. Please check. How much is the frequency of power failuer? Does the quality of power line is very poor? Please check all those points & revert back.

Timmy Posts: 41 Rating: (0)	I haven't done it on a Siemens drive but for some of our other drives we set the current limit in the negative direction to 0 during operaiton. This will inhibit that part of the drive from firiing and thus be a psuedo 2Q drive. In manual mode the operator can jog the motor in reverse and we then change the current limit to 100% so he can do what he needs to in manual. It works good if you have a stout load and you can allow for a little bit less accurate speed regulation.

In 6RA70 you simply set P165=1 or 0 (look at function diagram G165), so one group of thyristors will be disabled. What was the fault when fuse blowing? Try to increase additional torque-free interval in P160.
