Please suggest me how to access Peripheral address using DB Pointer and also Suggest some Sample Programme for using DB pointer.

I want to access my peripheral analog address in Shared data blocks using DB Pointer function.

Like we define an actual Peripheral address in a shared data blocks on Initial  value:

Example:-

my actual address on the analog card is PIW 300 and  that variable 300 just define in DB and then using DB pointer, Access that address via Data  blocks .but how it is possible ...please suggest me how to use DB pointers ....Below my db pattern and how this work....

Like in the Previous Reply.. I was mentioned the Data block Struct and also all peripheral address configure in DB ...but I don't have an idea how to use DB pointer to access the variable as address

Example.. I mentioned below INPUT address 304....and this one my actual address. but I want to use DB Pointer access this in my FC

And please tell me what the function of W#16#8000  Area code and why we use it

 Hi,

From the beginning of the beginning for exemple (not directly related to Pointer) if you are using timer "S5T#3s" this is a kind of "pointer" and it can be replaced by a word using this code :

0010 0000 0000 0011 

this => S5T#3s and this "0010 0000 0000 0011" are the same thing... for understand why take a look to my attachment.

You spoke in another post about that :

such like the timer format S5T#2S (S5T# = step5 timer and i add # then the value 2 sec) if i want to use a pointer P#adress (i use P# as pointer and i add the value)

The problem with pointer is the format you got different family of pointer...

First kind of pointer the "Area-Internal"

Example P#8.0 (without area)

Second kind "Area-Crossing Addressing"

P# I8.7, P# Q8.7, P#M 5.3. (With area I, Q M...)

So if the first exemple with timer have been understood you can easily understand with pointer

P#8.0 => 32 bits pointer whose only 17 bits are usefull

P#8.0 => 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0100 0000 (see attachment)

Second example : P# I8.7 (the area have been added)

The Input area code is 16#81 see attachment so 1000 0001

P# I8.7 => 1000 0001 0000 0000 0000 0000 0100 0111 (see attachment)

For make the example more simple i used underline for bits, bold for Byte and Italic for area

To recap the format :

W#16#8000 is the area 1000 0000 0000 0000 in pointer  W#16#80 is used for "peripheral" area because as i know no code is existing for this area.

304 C is the Byte and the bit.

The pointer is loaded inside the DB or any other place using the format.

If you understand that we will discuss about the other existing pointer ANY and  POINTER in an another post.
