hello guys, strange problem, I can load HW, I can go online to the HW. I can monitor

my blocks, edit and change and download. but the IP searcher to name devices just is

always empty. Any ideas? I do use a VM, but I have another VM but with older software

and it works. I have tried playing with the DCP and LLDP connections as well, no luck.

so all is ok I can use proneta to name devices but I don't know why not on this step 7 5.6 version with windows 10

all active virus scanners and firewalls i switched off and actually uninstalled as an attempt.

Yes, this what is confusing. Its like either a firewall restriction or step7. Everything works except this feature and its the important one 

in Proneta and STEP 7, different communication drivers are used.
If Proneta is capaple to find devices on the same system on which STEP 7 can't, it "should" not be a problem of system configuration.

At first i would check which version of STEP 7 V5.6 is used exactly (which servicepack, which hotfix). If a newer version is available, I recommend to install all updates to V5.6 available. Sometimes these updates also includes new communication drivers.

If this does not help, or the latest updates for STEP 7 V5.6 (servicepacks + hotfixes) are installed already, you can try the PC-Identifier.

The tool also includes communication drivers used in STEP 7 software. Unforunately, the only link i can find is an outdated version of this tool. But maybe this helps regardless. If you receive the message that a newer version is already installed on the system, you can start a support request to get the latest version.

I would also use not NAT in VM, you shoudl work with bridged mode or a USB/Ethernet adapter in the VM and a fixed IP in the same subnet as your automation systems

Hi,

The reason you cannot browse devices is because your VMware station is set up to use NAT.

The browse for devices is using a protocol on layer2 that cannot be routed so it does not reach the network outside the VMware station.

You need to bridge the VMware station network and give Windows an available ip address on the network where the devices are located.
