hello, Pc acces is an OPC server made for communication with S7- 200. It's used to communicate through PPI with S7-200. There are other ways, see What are the options for accessing an S7-200 with WinCC? The S7- 300 can communicate through ethernet, mpi profibus, etc direct (only cp needed in pcin case of mpi/profibus) via S7 communication. Regards, Marcjan |

PC Access is an OPC server/client software for the S7-200; it uses the PPI network to interface with this family of PLCs. See this collection of documents onPC Access: https://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/llisapi.dll?func=cslib.csinfo&objId=18785011&objaction=csopen&siteid=cseus&lang=en&skm=
This FAQ should help: What are the options for accessing an S7-200 with WinCC?
The S7 Protocol suite communication channel for WinCC is described in the following manual in chapter 10(see also the attachment): MDM - WinCC: Communication |
