I switched to a bigger vfd and motor. Right after the swap the new vfd is unreachable from the S7-1200 plc in tia portal v14. The motor works fine using the touchpad in LOCAL mode but not REMOTE.

The old vfd (an ABB ACS355) had a FENA-01 ethernet adapter unlike this new ABB ACS550 vfd which has an RETA-02.

I have all the DIP switches OFF on the RETA-02 which means to let the software determine its address.

I have two solid green lights on the RETA-02 ethernet adapter which are "Link Activity" and "Module Status". But the "Network Status" light which should be green never even comes on as it did before with the old vfd which worked with the plc. I should have three green lights but only have two.

So first thing I did offline was redo profinet communication in the PLC by first getting rid of the FENA-01 device and then inserted a RETA-02 Vendor as the Head module and Vendor Object PPO3 from the hardware catalog in tia portal.

Then I assigned it the same profinet device name "mainblower" the same name as it was on the FENA-01.

Then I we under the new device -->Online and Diagnostics --> Functions --> Assign IP address to 10.0.30.17 the same ip address it was working with even though I tried others on the same subnet to make sure their wasn't a conflict. Subnet mask set to 255.255.255.0. Tried typing in the MAC address of the RETA-02 here but would not take it and kept saying device with that mac address is unreachable. So clicked on Accessible Devices and mainblower does not show when I search for it under the PN interface using my ethernet connection. 

So unable to find it under accessible devices which is usual to me and is telling my a device with that mac address cannot be found tells me there is a problem.

But went ahead I downloaded the new program to the plc anyways.

When I do a topology comparison online vs offline, the offline profinet device name is mainblower but the online is "Not assigned" for device name and does not have an IP address, no Port.

When I go under Online Access under TIA portal, I select my ethernet connection and Click "Update accessible devices". Still, the mainblower device has a red icon by it. Every device including another VFD on this same Profinet IO network has a green check mark by it except this new vfd. Also the others devices have network activity green lights flashing.

ABB ACS550 is in Remote not Local mode.
Parameters have been set correctly in the vfd's him touchpad for communication with the plc.
Swapped vfd touchpads and still not communication.
Swapped the RETA-02 with a spare RETA-02 and still no communication.
Wondering whether the board that the RETA-02 plugs into could be bad.
But want to focus on what else can be done to find this device besides hardware failure.

Here's a screenshot image attached in network view and full screen of what I'm seeing in TIA Portal v14. This  problem is causing downtime so if you have any ideas why this device is unreachable I would not care if they are right or wrong just wanting to know any thing that could be causing this problem.

I found documentation from themanufacturer of the actual with this bigger and exact drive configuration saying below:

Communications Control Needs to be Set in External 1 for setting up communication with this ACS550 drive.

PLC logic must contain the following:

• OutputWord1 (Control) Bit 0 = Start/Stop "Must be turned on AFTER Enable bits 1-6 & 10 are Set On"
• "Output Word 1 (Control) Bits 1-6 & 10 = Enable Bits "These Bits Must be turned On BEFORE Start/Stop Bit 0, If any enable bit is turned Off while bit 0 is On, bit 0 needs to be Reset before the drive will run (rising edge)."
• Output Word 1 (Control) Bit 7 = Fault REset bit, drive can be reset by communications if vfd parameter 1604 is set to "COMM".

What is "External 1"? Is that a vfd parameter or RETA-02 parameter or plc something?

Can a bad block in the plc logic be causing this mainblower drive to be unreachable? To I have to do these things in the plc like turning these bits on at the right times for it to become reachable by tia portal?

Firewall software was keeping all devices from showing so I disabled the firewall and now all devices are showing BUT mainblower is still not reachable (see new screenshot attachment). I have given this device a PN device name, IP address.

In the PLC diagnostics buffer I get:

Not reachable
Differences were found between the loaded configuration and the offline project.
Online article number:  ?
Offline article number:  68840830
*Error
*Incoming event

In the RETA-02 diagnostic Status I get:

Not reachable

I reset the RETA-02 module to factory settings and still unreachable. Notice how there is the Old FENA-01 under module name. Thought resetting the memory would get rid of that but how is that getting put in there? See screenshot attached.

Since there is "Differences were found between the loaded configuration and the offline project." Do I try reset the plc to factory settings???

Now I'm getting "The module has detected a parameter assignment error" see new screenshot attached.

Something different is that the mainblower under Ungrouped Devices created from adding the RETA-02 from the Hardware Catalog, the firmware version is v3 although when I click Online and Diagnotics under my Ethernet connection's mainblower my firmware is v3.5.1. Do these have to match?
