markus1976 Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi my question as follow : the customer want to see for every object linked to a tag the tag address of relative tag (in this case the PLC is S7400, so for ex "DB100.DBX0.0") as tooltip text. So in runtime, when i'm positioning with the mouse on a object (for ex a circle) with backcolor linked to tag "PumpRunning", i need to show in tooltip text the tag address of "PumpRunning". Is possible with C Code or VBS Code retrive the tag address of the tag used and set it to tooltiptext property of my object? Thanks

The only way i don't won is write every single tooltip with a static text in tooltiptext property....in this way i think will finish my application around year 2050....

Dynamical accessing the tag adress, i belive, take some time if there are more than a few taggs... ..The time to implement a script like that is probably longer than the time spent using EasyLanguage doing the same job, but with quicker pictures.

Ikkezelf Posts: 1084 Rating: (72)	Dynamically would be a bit difficult I think. If I were you I would export all tags to excel. Then write a vba script in graphic designer that: 1. opens each mimic after each other. 2. opens all objects on the open mimic and read the tag name. 3. search trough the excel sheet until you find the tag name. 4. copy the tag address belonging to that tag into the tooltip property of that open object. 5. save file and go to next object and afterwards next mimic. It will be some work to create the vba script, but still will be less then have to adjust every object by hand. with regards, Ikkezelf

As I understand it, the tag configuration is stored in a SQL table. So why export all tags to excell. Why not write a query that looks voor de address of the tag in this table. Will this work ?
