Editing of the PCS7 project on several PC Stations

Cebona Posts: 12 Rating: (1)	Hi, I'd like to ask you if it is possible to edit the same project in multiproject, which is stored in ES (WinXP), on several PCs (WinXP). Because several tasks are stored in one AS (in the same project), and we want to edit this project (shared this project) among 2-3 PCs. The reason why we need this way of shared of one project is due to the generation of the functional blocks. Because if each person will work independently, the same FC/FB can be generated. It helps if each PC has the same software installed, otherwise the project will ask for the software which is not present. If I remember correctly, there are features built into PCS7 V7 SP1 which help with multiple editing stations - but I have not looked into them. If you all need to work simultaneously, you can develop separately, export your work to a "typicals" library and then import it into your one main project (that's one way of doing it).

If you want a more detailed understanding of a multi-user propject configuration, there is a complete chapter on this in the Configuring Hardware and Communication Connections with STEP 7 V. 5.4 manual. You can study Siemens' recommendations and caveats for this type of project. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	Just want to add this: Prior to PCS7 V7.0 SP1, multi-computing was always considered "dicey", the main fear being corruption of the project. But in V7.0 SP1 it works beautifully! It lives up to all the claims. We (about6 of us)have been working for about 3 months on the project and so far no problems whatsoever
