Hello ziggypi; Possivly it is the presence of a DP/DP coupler in your network that is confusing you. A DP/DP xoupler is use to allow data to be exchamged between 2 masters in a Profibus environment; Profibus-DP is master-slave acyclic xommunication network, it does not include master-master exchange mechanisms, so you need an external element if you want 2 masters to talk to each other. Look at the screenshot below, showing a DP/DP coupler arrangement between 3 masters (only 2 at a time). It is taken from this article: https://www.equustek.com/purpose-dp-dp-coupler/
In your case, your DP/DP coupler is slave 16 to one master (your Siemens CPU) and slave 32 to the motion controller, and allows them to exchange data between them, as configured in each slave on the coupler. Addresses of the slaves must be ubique to the master's network, so a slsve 32 on the Siemens CPU can exist along with a decoupled master 32. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
