WinCC OPC DA on MS Server 2022

Recently, our client upgrades WinCC station to WinCC v8.0 Update 4 under Microsoft Windows Server 2022. As result OPC DA client cannot connect to WinCC project anymore! I struggles for day and a half, until I found out about Microsoft DCOM hardening issue. I believe that is because of KB5004442—Manage changes for Windows DCOM Server Security Feature Bypass (CVE-2021-26414). At every connect attempt, I get an error event in Windows Event Log: The server-side authentication level policy does not allow the userdomain\UserSID (X-X-X-XX-XXXXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXXX-XXXXX) from address XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX to activate DCOM server. Please raise the activation authentication level at least to RPC_C_AUTHN_LEVEL_PKT_INTEGRITY in client application. I contacted the vendor of OPC DA client for any solution, but I was advised to move to OPC UA, which at present is not that easy! Some additional software licenses must be bought. Does anybody get to similar issue and how the one resolve it? Any personal experience and recommendations will be highly appreciated! Best Regards, Svetozar Yolov

It is very easy to use an has higher security functionalities which become more and more important. Bye Murof
