Thanks Pandiani for starting this post and I have similar questions.

From the IM modules document, I have questions regarding the IM153-4 PN interface module and analog cards.

I understand from reading the ET200 manual (https://cache.industry.siemens.com/dl/files/798/1142798/att_859626/v1/et200M_operating_instructions_en-US_en-US.pdf?download=true), you can install up to 12 modules and there's a maximum address space of 200 bytes.

If I wanted to fill the rack with analog cards, say with a 8x13bit analog input card. Does that mean I'm going to be using

8 x 13 x 12 / 8 = 156 bytes?

Meanwhile using a 16bit card would then use up 192 bytes.

My concern is if there are any issues with scan time or data exchange between an interface module and PLC (say S7-400) if we were to fill a rack full of analog cards.

A 8  analog input card takes 16bytes address space, no matter if it's 12bit, 13bit or 16bit. The bit amount is the resolution of the analog input channel. So 12 Analog modules x 16bytes = 192bytes.
