In my project I had a compilation error when compiling without module drivers.

The error was with CPU_DIAG trying to interconnect with something.

I deleted all the @ charts and compiled again. This time succesful.

After this I wanted to try and compile with "generate module drivers", but I'm getting an error.

The error is about an xml file. There's something wrong SPLIT_DIAG. Has any of you experts got an idea what this error is about?

E: Error in line 431:>> <SPLIT_DIAG AS ="0" FIELD ="1"/>

A small update on my problem;

I retrieved my project again with a backup where I didn't delete the @charts.

When I compile now with generate module drivers with "version of the driver library" <PCS 7 Basis Library V81> I get the same error with SPLIT_DIAG

When I compile  with "version of the driver library" <PCS 7 Basis library V71> I get no error at all.

I indeed came from Version 6.1. 

The problem is I have been able to fully compile in V7.1. So now I'm trying to go from V7 To V8. I haven't compiled the block driver in V7.1 though  but I don't think this can be the problem? As the module drivers create their own @Charts. So when I delete them he should just recreate them. I think there is a problem with the driver81 blocks trying to do something...

Well, When the blocks are updated to the new version, you have to do a full compile of the charts. You can delete the @charts, only if you have F-blocks, which are not updated to the new technology, then they shouldn't be deleted.

To which version did you update. I believe you have to update from v6.1 to 7.1 SP3 or SP4. And then to 8.x. Not a update from v6.1 to 7.1 SP1 or SP2. 

I updated to V7.1 SP4

This is my 3th project migration. I'm using the same virtual PC's so I'm pretty sure I have updated with the correct versions.

Also I don't see how the driver blocks have to compiled in V7 before going to V8?

+ In a way I have already compiled using the V7 library from driver blocks.

Other things I have tried:

When I delete every CHN71 driver block + every DRIVER81 block i am able to compile... But this is normal because it wont even try to compile channel drivers.

As soon as there is one CHN71 or DRIVER81 block in there I can't compile. Using the driver library from 81 that is..

Same problem here... (PCS7 V8.1 SP1 + APL library)

Already tried several things.... but we keep ending up frustrated.

We've created an empty single project with one CPU (410-5H) + an empty CFC --> compilation is OK.

Then we add a function block, for example MonAnL Or And04, --> compilation is OK.

Then we add Pcs7AnIn driver block --> compilation gives the error you also have...

We hope someone has a solution.

I fixed my error, wel not completly but okay, I retrieved my backup on a different virtual machine.

These machines should've been the same because they were both copied from the same original engineering station.

Now apparently I must've messed something up during my previous migrations. I've never editted anything in the XML files but something must've changed them because I'm able to do a full compile with generate module drivers using the V81 library in the other virtual machine.

I suggest to every1 having this problem to retrieve their project in another virtual machine and trying it there.

If it works you can just copy this machine, if you don't have another machine with pcs7 v81 then I guess your only option is to reinstall pcs7.

Hmm very strange.. These xml's files are standard install files. Maybe you can track down the date of change of the xml file to check if it was changed recently. The location: C:\Program Files (x86)\SIEMENS\STEP7\S7DATA\driver\action\08010000  lists all xml files. --> al_cpu.xml

This wasn't the case they have not been changed recently.

I also tried to transfer the XML file that was giving us trouble from the "working" virtual machine to the machine that gave us errors and no luck.

So now the XML file should be the correct one. The problem must be something else. I'm guessing my PCS7 installation became corrupt or something.

Sander did this fix your error as well?

We reinstalled PCS7 v8.1 SP1.  But this time we did not install any additionel libraries (wich we actually need for upgrading a project of ours).

Now our errors are gone. So, in our case, it looks like it had something to do with additionel libraries.

I met the same problem with yours, the solution is reinstall the component as below:

1. PCS7 Basis Library;

2. PCS7 Advanced Process Library;

then the problem should be fixed.

I got the same problem and i fixed it (I'm using both PCS7 Library V7.x and V8.1).

My way is:

- Download the latest libraries from here: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/109480136/downloadable-previous-versions-of-simatic-pcs-7-libraries-?dti=0&lc=en-WW

- Install one by one:

   1. PCS 7 Library V7.1

   2. PCS 7 Library V8.1

 Thanks Tomact. I had similar issue for migration from v8.0 to v9.1. Thats fixed when i using another vm to do compilation.
