Hello Siemens Friends,

Does anybody know if it is possible to interface between S7-400 and Allen Bradley Compact Logix L32E preferrably via ethernet. Specifications as below:

S7-400: 414-2XG03-0AB0

Compact Logix: 1769 L32E

It is only basic communication that I need, just to send 2 bytes to each other. I can program on both of the PLCs.

Their equipment is rock-solid and easy to setup and configure.

On the other hand, there are some software libraries available on Rockwell's KnowledgeBase that would allow you to setup DF1 on the CPU's interfcae, but with a little more work.

Hello Vinny.

I can tell you bymy own experience:

1. Method suggested by Ammy works ok.

2.When you start to work with Echochange,It is a litle bit hard to understand how Echochange interface works (Specially if you are begginer like me), and also the documentation is not to clear and extensive.

3. Have in mind you will need a Ethernet CP for your PLC, (you can not use built in PN port in your CPU in case you have one).

4. Also have in mind, the variables you are exchanging betwen S7400<>CompactLogix, do not goes to "Zero" if the communications are losts, so for critical process data you have to be carefull about it.

Unfortunately, I don't have the Echochange or the RS232 CP. All I've got apart from the two processors are CP443-1 (ethernet CP) and CP 443-5 (profibus CP).

So I take it as, it is not possible to do the interface unless I add more modules.
