Comunication between PC (Intouch), Radio transceiver and S7-200

chibby0ne Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Hello, I have a project where I need to communicate an S7-200 (dont remember the exact model but I'm sure i was't one with two ports) with a GE MDS 9710 Radio transceiver and with a PC running Wonderware Intouch 7.1. I'm not sure how to do this, I'm thinking of Freeport. I know the Radio uses RS-232 as output, and a PC has RS-232 too (or USB or Ethernet instead). But because the S7200 only has one port I can't use a normal PC/PPI cable, besides I don't think it is available, so I'm using a normal RS-232/RS485 converter instead of that. Do I need to use a RS232 Splitter (or RS485 Splitter) to connect the PC (which are really hard to find)? Could I use RS232/RS485 converter (for the Radio to the S7-200) and then a profibus cable and connector so I could have another cable (and another converter) for the PC?? Another thing that's been bothering me: how to communicate the S7-200 with Intouch 7.1 using Freeport? Any ideas? Any help would be great, thanks in advance Best regards.

As you see the radio transceiver in transmitting to another radio transceiver and this one is connected to a S7-300 314IFM CPU, and also to a PC with Wonderware Intouch, using MPI and a RS485/RS232 converter again. Can I use this converter or do I have to use a MPI to RS232 converter? I think the only difference here is the speed I don't have a lot of experience with S7-200's, and I was wandering how do I configure the network? For S7-300/400 there's HW Config and Netpro to configure MPI, Profibus, IE, etc. But for Freeport and S7-200? How to address both S7-300 and PC? (by the way also valid for S7-300). So, you don't want to use ethernet (using DASISIDIRECT Server - easier and cheaper solution). Another way - OPC Server. S7-200 and PC Access The S7-200 PC Access OPC server can be linked with the S7-200 via the following types of connection: PPI via PC/PPI cable USB/PPI cable (order number: 6ES7 901-3DB30-0XA0) RS232/PPI cable (order number: 6ES7 901-3CB30-0XA0) RS232/PPI cable (order number: 6ES7 901-3BF21-0XA0) MPI and PROFIBUS via PROFIBUS CPs CP5611, CP5511, CP5512 External and internal modems and modem module S7-241 Ethernet for Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs) via CP243-1 or CP243-1 IT. With the S7-200 PC Access OPC server data can be read simultaneously from up to eight S7-200 target systems. Note: More information on the S7-200 OPC server is available in the S7-200 PC Access Online Help in Entry ID: 19301654 . Settings of PC Access (How can you graphically display a variable of the PLC via EXCEL as OPC client with PC Access as OPC server?) Then in PC you must connect PC Access Server with OPC LInk (Wonderware' product - use search here in forum...). Of course is possible to use also other OPC Server (Kepware, Matricon...). S7-300 and Intouch - SimaticNet and MPI - Depends what kind of CP you have in PC - look at Where can you find sample S7 programs and documentation for OPC (OLE for Process Control) in the SIMATIC NET Quick Start Collection?
