I have a DB which has array[1..50] of 590 bytes and i would  like to send this data over pn-pn coupler over 1 slot that could take only 253 bytes at a time

so could you help me out with an SCL or STL programming that could take input of DB with defined bytes to be copied at output with  a loop functionality...either using pointer or any DB

Which hardware? Which software? DB is optimized or not optimized? Is SFC20 available to you?

The first choice is then to use BLKMOV when having non optimized data.


The second option is to use the SetIO instruction. 

In this case you have the outputs set to not update automatically since SetIO will do that.

cant we use a block or for loop as we have many data in total 6000 bytes and sending it overr one coupler. i thought it could be done witth loop

Yes you will need to use a looping mechanism. But not as you think. You need to send a piece. Then wait, and send the next piece. This will take several PLC cycles. So a FOR loop will not work.

Do you have more than one slot available? Can you spread the data over several slots? Are you designing both sides of the coupler?

Sorry, did I misunderstand your question? Do you want someone to design the whole program for you?

Or was I right the first time and you want to get some hints on making your own code? For that case you are welcome to share some of your own work and have some volunteer give you direction..

i want some hint in writing the code. i though to make an index which will copy first slot of data from off dbx.dbb0 i.e 253 bytes from DB and  copy to PN-PN coupler slot and then he will take the next slot of data i.e from dbx.dbb254 and copy...so on as i have 29500 bytes of data in DB.so i though to use loop for index

The following shows a concept. You should not use it as it is. You need to adapt it to your purpose. The concept is built around a 3rd idea which may be easier to work with. It uses MOVE_BLK_VARIANT.

The coding has been done in LAD, just to show that it can be done in LAD if you feel more comfortable with that. Also note that the timer value of 3sec need to be set to what your system can handle. Better if the peers have some sort of handshaking.

The assignment on the PN/PN coupler utilizes 251 bytes. One byte is used to transmit an index number. Else the receiver will not know which data it is receiving.

The data that represents the source:


Note that the source does not have to be bytes. Having WORDs would mean there is 125 units being moved around.

The sample code is in the attached picture. Note that some values are seeded to test in the simulator. Special notice to the ANY pointer used as destination.
