ET200S Port 2 Blinking

cnr Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hello, I have some problem with communication. My CPU is 6ES7151-8AB01-0AB0 - ET200S, IM151-8 PNDP CPU, 192 KB. I have connected PLC's as it is shown on attachment. Now my problem is, when I turn off 24VDC, and turn on back again, Port 2 of PLC B starts blinking, and it doesn't work, until I unplug cable from that port and plug it again. Is there a necessity to connect both or what is the background of it?

cnr Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	As long as I need to control both PLC's from one HMI, I have made some redundancy on cables. So if one cable fails from PLC A to PLC B, second cables takes control. The only LED that blinks is on PLC B Port 2. I would like to know if there is any posiblity to reset this port on restart of PLC, instead of going and unpluging port manualy by hand and plug back again. Everything works OK. I am concerd if in the future this happens same to Port 1 on PLC B. Do you have any suggestion?

Hello caner, Do you get any warning / error message in DIagnostic Buffer of the CPU B during this event? If it is so share that message which will be helpful in finding the cause.

fritz Diamond Expert Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 9/4/2025 Posts: 3049 Rating: (1062)	Hello caner even though it may at first glance not look like it, but you are creating an Ethernet ring by linking two portsof one IM151-8 CPU to anotherIM151-8 CPU. As such, you need aRing Manager that handles the ring and the good news is that the 6ES7151-8AB01-0AB0 does support thisas of firmware V3.2 (see also Which IO controllers and IO devices support the following functions: IRT, prioritized startup, MRP, PROFIenergy, Shared device, I device and clock-synchronized mode? for more). Have a look at the attachment which shows where you need to make these settings in TIA Portal and note that the inbuilt help has more info on this. I hope this helps and please let us know if this fixes your problem (I haven't tried myself yet to do so with only two IM151-8's and be interested tofind out).
