How to configure SC IO in Step7 5.5 ???

There are multiple remote IO stations that have ET200L modules with SC modules attached with a short ribbon cable. I had given up on getting these modules configured under Step7, but went to another customer today who happened to have SC modules in their system, running with an S7 PLC as the Master. The attached picture is what their configuration looks like in the hardware configuration. I do not know how to add the line with the line with the TB16SC in it, and then get the lines that allow the insertion of the SC modules into the A,B,C... slots. It looks like i can only do one picture to each post, so I will post a screen shot of where I get stuck in another post. Thanks to anyone who can help me with this. If I boot the racks, while attached to the S5 system, and then transfer the profibus cables to the S7 PLC without having powered down the remote racks, and then power up the S7 PLC, then the S7 PLC "talks" to the ET200L-SC racks just fine. If I Cycle power to the racks and the S7 PLC, with the Profibus cable connected to the S7 PLC, then the S7 PLC will only talk to the ET200L portion of the remote racks, not the SC part. I will get no errors, just no results when one of the Outputs is asked to turn on by the PLC. ( That output bit will show as "on" in the PLC program visualization ) Apparently, the part of the configuration that I cannot figure out how to insert, is the part that supplies the configuration that gets downloaded to the remote racks, so they know what to do with the SC IO. dougt Advanced Member Joined: 10/14/2009 Last visit: 10/15/2024 Posts: 33 Rating: (0)	When I copy the ET200L from the project that has a properly configured ET200L rack in it, I can edit it and save it and it retains the lines in the configuration enabling configuration of the individual SC modules in the SC rack. That looks like a nice workaround for the 6ES7-131-1BL11-0XB0, assuming that the SC terminal block used in that configuration is the same or compatible with the terminal block used in the system I am trying to fully convert to S7. Unfortunately, the project with properly configured ET200L SC IO does not have a rack with a 6ES7-131-1BH11-0XB0 module in it. Does anyone have a project with a properly configured 6ES7-131-1BH11-0XB0 module in it? Alternately, I am figuring that if I had a proper GSD file, a rack inserted from my catalog would come in with these lines to configure the SC IO. Unfortunately, all the GSD files I have found only have configuration information for about four lines. Does anyone know how to get a copy of a GSD file that would allow the IO to be configured, and then put it into my project, so I could pick it from the list? I tried to install all the ET200L racks available in Step7 5.5, and none of them conatined lines to configure the SC IO modules. For example, the GSD file here Order no.: 6ES7 131-1EH00-0XB0 http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/113440 does not appear to have information for any more than four slots. I am not sure if those slots at the end of the configuration file correspond to the lines I need to configure the SC modules. So far that is just a hunch. Best Regards, Doug

When I followed it, I noticed that the individual language GSx files for the 6ES7 131 1BH1* 0XB0 modules were much larger than the GSD version. It looks like those versions have information for inserting the other modules. Unfortunately, when I tried to install any of them into the Step7 hardware catalog, I got the following error message in the log... SIE_8027.GSG describes a KGP/ET 200L slave. Slaves of this group based on GSD file (type file) are presently not supported. So, I guess it cannot be done in Step7 version 5.5. I may have to abandon configuring those modules, or find an old version of Step7 on an old laptop, install the modules into a test project, and then copy them into the new project.
