Problem printing online Alarms to Line Printer

nmnogueira Bronze Member Joined: 3/15/2010 Last visit: 7/30/2025 Posts: 137 Rating: (10)	Hi I am trying to print the online alarms to a line printer (Epson LX-1170 II), connected through ethernet (using a D-Link parallel port print server). I have made the following configurations: Mapped the LPT1 port to the print server IP address using the command "net use LPT1: \\MY_SERVER\PRINTER /persistent:yes" Configured the print job "Report Alarm Logging RT Message sequence" to use the printer at LPT1, activated the check boxes "Line layout for line printer" and "Selection for print job list". Selected the layout "@CCAlgRtSequece.RP1" Activated the "Message Sequence Report" in the computer WinCC startup list The result is the following: I can print the report by right clicking the print job at the WinCC Explorer and choosing "Print the print job". This prints all the active alarms correctly to my line printer The alarms are not printed automatically every time an alarm is triggered. If I choose to use a Layout (@CCAlgRtOnlineMessages.RPL) instead of the Line Layout in the "Report Alarm Logging RT Message sequence", the page is printed automatically whenever there are enough alarms to fill a complete page. Is there anything missing in my configuration? I think it's strange that I can print the alarm list manually by selecting the print job and it is not printed automatically. I would appreciate if anyone could help me with out this.

Also, whenever I have the "Message Sequence Report" active in the startup list, the WinCC hangs when I try to stop the project. So I decided to try a different approach: To use a C script to print the message to the line printer. If I place a file name instead of "LPT1:", the test line is written to the file. I have tried this code elsewhere and it works, so I know this is a fault of WinCC. So here's what I did. I created a .DLL with a function with the code above, that receives a message and writes it to LPT1:. I then call this function from the message callback GMsgFunction and make some manipulations to format the message, and done! The message is printed correctly . I still need to finish the message creation and adapt the script to work with redundancy, but I think there won't be any problems
