Hello

I can't convert a Real to a String, but I can convert a Int to a String (see attached picture).

Do you guys know what could be the problem. I dont think the syntax is wrong.

Using TIA v15 and CPU1513.

you should use the function S_CONVERT to convert a Real or a Int to a String.
You can find it at "Extended instructions - String + Char".

Then should it work.

Okay it was because i limited my string to 10 characters.

But when i convert it i get a weird value.

Is it not possible to convert REAL 12.22 to STRING '12.22'?

Please refer to the link I have supplied earlier. Within the linked topic is a picture in one of my replies. You will see that the in-software help is open at a specific instruction. Now knowing the answer is there, helps you in your long time goal to self-sustaining knowledge.

This has probably been resolved but it came up first in google search and I figured I would share a solution to this.

This takes a real input and outputs the real as a string to the needed decimal places (haven't tested it on very large numbers but it worked good for what I needed)

fcRealToString

rInReal is an inputted real number

iInPrecision is the number of decimals wanted

#iTemp := REAL_TO_INT(#rInReal); //chop off the deciamls
#sTemp := INT_TO_STRING(#iTemp); //convert int to string

#iSize := LEN(#sTemp) + #iPrecision; //add the needed decimals to the final string length

//convert the real into a string
VAL_STRG(IN := #rInReal,
SIZE := #iSize,
PREC := #iInPrecision,
FORMAT := 0000,
P := 1,
OUT => #sTemp);

//delete leading space if no decimals are needed
IF #iPrecision = 0 THEN
#sTemp := DELETE(IN := #sTemp, L := 1, P := 1);
END_IF;

//output string
